David Leadbetter Design Philosophy

I consider myself very fortunate to have played the best golf courses in the world. Those cumulative experiences have helped to infuse the design principles that I utilize to craft world-class golfing experiences.

David Leadbetter Design was founded on the principles of seamlessly integrating each golf course into the surrounding environment while maintaining a golfing experience that is both fair and challenging. I strive for each course design to allow golfers of all abilities to play to their strengths, not their weaknesses. Individual challenges exist to add to the beauty of the course layout while minimizing the penalties for the average golfer.

Every course is created to be friendly to the average golfer from one set of tees while offering a completely different challenge to golfers from other positions they may choose to play. Each hole is designed with the golfer in mind. Fairways, bunkers, greens, rough and obstacles are shaped to enhance the golfing experience; not hider it.
